Established in 2001, the .NAME generic domain extension is the single TLD planned for personal sites only. These domain names can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other titles people are known by. At first, only third-level registrations were possible, so if you desired to register john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already bought third-level domain names remained active.

You will have the opportunity to correct the WHOIS contact info, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already registered domain to our company if you get its EPP transfer key from the current registration provider and we will renew it when the transfer has been finished. There are no specific requirements on who can get a .NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the concept behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry may check who the owner is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain, the registration might be challenged.
