If you would like to forward a domain that you have to another domain or subdomain, one of the ways to do this would be to use a CNAME record. By setting up such a record, the domain being pointed loses all its records (A, MX, and so forth) and instead, it takes the A record of the domain it is pointed to. This way, if you are using a web design service by some provider that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain name and not only will it be forwarded to the Internet site that you have created, but it'll also be displayed in the browser address bar at all times. Some other possible uses of a CNAME record are to redirect all the traffic from different subdomains to their main domain, or to use the webmail service of your hosting provider by using webmail.your-doman.com, for example. The latter will work only by creating a CNAME record for a subdomain simply because this kind of a record set up for the main domain name renders it impossible to use e-mail addresses.
CNAME Records in Shared Website Hosting
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which we offer with each and every shared website hosting plan, will permit you to create CNAME records for any domain name or subdomain hosted in the account with several clicks. If you're not confident how to go about it, you can check the video tutorial that's available within the CP, read the detailed Help article on the subject, or simply contact us and we can help you 24/7, though it is unlikely you'll experience any difficulties as all it takes to set up a new CNAME record is to choose a domain/subdomain, type in the hostname you are pointing to, and save the change. The new record will be fully active within the hour. Using CNAME records permits you to have better control of your domains and site content and our system is simple and user-friendly enough to allow individuals with no previous experience to create such records with ease.
CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with every single one of our semi-dedicated server accounts, will allow you to set up a CNAME record without difficulty. If you want to create a private URL for your e-mails, to redirect a domain name to a subdomain inside the account or to forward a domain name to another company and use some third-party service which they provide, it will not require more than three mouse clicks to create such a record. All DNS records for the domain names and subdomains hosted within the semi-dedicated account are going to be listed in a separate section in the Control Panel, so once you are there, all that you will have to do will be to choose the type of the record that you want to set up and the hostname for which you are creating it, and then input the actual record text. For your benefit, you can watch a short video inside the CP regarding how to create a CNAME record or you can refer to the instructions in the help article, which is available in the DNS records section.
